Towing a Dandy Designer... After my last trip out I feel I need to change my Fiat Panda for something with a bit more poke.Although it copes quite well, driving is somewhat hard work and being the soul driver I'm left shattered after a few hours behind the wheel. I am also fed up trying to fit a quart into a pint pot, with so little boot space.

Criterea needs to be ecconomical everyday running road tax no more than £120pa and reasonable insurance.

I  would be looking for 07 plates upwards

Any suggestions gratefully received17

Thats a good idea, and you can get the diesel one for the same price, and the RFL is cheaper than the petrol,

Also look for a Skoda Octavia 1.9 tdi 105 BHP cheap insurance and only £120 a year RFL and over 50 MPG, massive boot

We tow a Designer with a Skoda Roomster 1.4 TDi.  Took it & the Dandy over the Pyrennees to Spain a couple of years ago.  No problems getting there over the mountains or keeping up with the French motorways either.  Gets 50 MPG+ with the trailer on too.  We too looked at the Doblo, but were put off by the noise & harsh ride (leaf springs on the back 'cos it is derived from a van).

Poor Panda - not surprised he couldn't cope with a Dandy.

How about a Honda Jazz - go for a 1.4 petrol, good fuel economy and plenty of re-arrangeable storage space. Cracking little car.

Thing I don't get is the 1.1 has a towing weight of 800KG, only 100 less thn yours.  That is asking a lot of a car that weighs only a little more than 800KG itself.  General rule of thumb is tow no more than 85% of the towing vehicle's limit.  In theory the Panda is well within this for a 500KG Designer.  Possible is not the same as desirable though!

Steve.

Thanks everyone

I went for a Kia Se-ed but didnt like the seat when I tried it,  too low for me (felt like the little old lady just peering over the top of the steering wheel17)

Lovely salesman said  "What about this????"

I have just bought the new Kia Soul !!!!!!!!!
