All been said before I'm sure but just had to post.

Wife's sis & her hubby have been caravanners for years. When we had 'vans long ago, we used to go away with them. Initially they had a Volvo 340 and a nice little 'van (can't remember what it was) and we had a Renault 20 TS and a Sprite Musketeer. Then later we had a Cav Mk lll SRI and a (very nice)  Marden. By that time they had progressed with changes of car and unit over the years and they now have a Ford S-Max and a large 'van (again can't remember what it is) Any way, a few days ago they came for their bi-monthly visit and we finally managed to schedule 1) me off work 2) my lad at work (one less car on the drive) and 3) us opening up the Pathfinder for them to see. They were absolutely amazed at the room inside and watched with fascination as we demonstrated the ease of putting it up. Although they have seen FCs, they have never got that close to one and it was also noted the condition of it (prev owner only used it 4 times - the cooker has never been used and the seating looks brand new)

So we are well-chuffed at the kind comments and can't wait for our first adventure in it in July.

Pete

Funny you should put a thread on about space in fc..cos i a m a little concerned about ours!  We have a vango diablo 900 xl and a conway crusader with awning.  Onlymanaged ot get away in crusader once this year due to prio commitments, and only bought it in Feb09.  Went awy in it a few weekends and for me the plus points were, ofcourse, the luxury cmpared to a tent...ehu,, proper beds, cooker, toilet etc  The drawbacks for us were lack of space compared to what we are used to..there are 5 of us, and we are all tall!  Just seemd to be tripping over one another, and where do people keep their clothes?  In our tent we have our pods to sleep in and keep stuff in. Did think of getting a cheap tent for one of girls to sleep in awning so more room..can't afford the inner bits for awning to sleep in!  Don't want to use the so called wardrobe for clothes cos am going to get drawers in it so can store food in it which I think is the best use for it?

We are debating if we should take the wardrobe out as other have mentioned?? We dont really use it and it takes up quite a bit of room. We want to take the microwave but if we dont put the awning up we dont have anywhere to put it. We also struggled where to put clothes when 4 of us were away in ours we ended up with clothes in the boot of the car as we'd no room!! Its usually just the 2 of us and we have plenty of room and put clothes on the spare bed.

When we took the children we had plastic suitcase style storage boxes and put them in the underbed area if the awning wasn't up. I find it hard to imagine anyone can fill the awning. John made a wood top to go on the sink for the microwave and we lifted it onto the back bed when we wanted the sink.

That's a good idea Jan - hope you don't mind if we nick that...

We are also going to take out the wardrobe this year and have bought a camping shelved larder from Argos for just under £22 to see if this will be better. We are taking my mother on holiday with us this year and hope that we can fit the holdalls in the space where the wardrobe went so that we can fit her in the car. I will post how we got on in September.

We also put things on the bed if we need space sometimes. Like Jan, we find the awning huge.

There are 5 of us and storage is fine, we have put shelves in the wardrobe and use this as a larder. Clothes go in bags under the seat.

If you mean the sink top Pete we used 4 rubber door stops which sit on the solid bit not the glass.

Ta for that Jan. Also we have underbed skirt (well, one, as it was only the later units that have facility for two, right?) and we will be taking advantage of that area.
Re the wardrobe, we will leave that in as there will only be the two of us, and occasionally our 15 yr-old g/daughter so space should not be at a premium.
Really getting excited now; just need to finalise on the correct drop plate (the unit sat a bit nose up both on the way home from buying it and on the subsequent blast 'round the block' to test the stabiliser. Present plate is 21/2" and our local factor has 3" and multi/4" ones.

We think we have the clothes storage sorted now.  Tried using the under seat storeage, but it was to much hassle to lift up.  Now I use a folding shelves in the wardrobe and a larder in the awning for clothes.  I have bought (managed to get the right colour green) two shower curtains to seperate one section of the awning and made that into a changing/porto potty area.  It keeps the awning tidy and there is somewhere for us to change.

We are thinking of taking the stove out as we never use it, only cook outside.  That would give us another surface.

What do you mean by a larder?  I found the underbed storage a bit of a hassle...partic if the person sleeping on that bed didn't want to get up!!!!  Looked at those plastic drawer type units like they sell in Wilkos to go in wardrobe unit...think there was a thread on here elsewhere about them.  What are folding shelves?  Another question...looking at awning inners...do any inners fit an awning?  Hubby found some generic ones a lot lot cheaper than the ones we'd seen on the pennine/conway suppliers website!  (we like to save our money for site fees, food...and wine!) Not thought of the shower curtain idea...how do you attach them?

Somewhere to store food, I keep bread veg, bottles etc in the wardrobe, then when we are packing down I stow away the pillows and cushions in there

i meant an outwell wardrobe/larder you make themup, a bit of hassle but worth it. The folding shelves are those cloth ones, that way they just colapse when packing away. The shower curtain attaches to the pole by the hooks come with it.
