We had an ecomat and it is/was rubbish. We ended up putting a cheap blue tarp under it. Worms and mud just oozed through it. We;ve bought some awning carpet now from outdoor revolution like this which has been better. Keen though I am to be environmental I don't want wet feet,

I also use the same. Not only does it feel warm underfoot it also makes the tent look more cosy.

febe3, I see you linked to breathablegroundsheets.co.uk, I recently bought one from them.

I was as uncertain as you, so I phoned them (0800 freephone number) and spoke to a very knowledgeable man.

There were several brands and 'seconds' to choose from. I ended up with a close weave on his recommentadion. Nice product and very good value.

Suggest you phone them.

one trip we had had a veritable stream running under our groundsheet in heavy rain.we merely lifted the side of the groundsheet where it came in ensuring it went underneath .
had it been an openweave type groundsheet it would have mean calamity .
is grass really that scarce we need to pay for a groundsheet that pretends to care for it?

in reality your pitches are usually where someone else was a few days before so the grass will yellow or disappear (if its a busy site) anyway

even no groundsheet at all makes the grass go yellow if the tent is canvas but nylon appears to let more light through ,perhaps over sensitive owners will force tents to be completely see through shortly ,in some venues this is not so bad but in our case (old grey and fat) perhaps get out clauses should be the case

We have a weaveatex grounsheet which is brilliant.  No worms etc coming through and no water when we had torrential rain.  My brother has the softex one and worms do come through and it gets a bit squelchy.   The grass is always fine when we leave too.  I got mine from a company on ebay so the price was slightly less than if I'd bought it direct from them,

Another vote for Weaveatex - just bought & used for the 1st time with our FC. Couldn't believe how green the grass was after a week - I don't know how

the only comment for safety - We used to put down a plastic backed picnic rug for a more homely feel, however on top of the Weaveatex it's lethal (I stepped from the FC and almost left the awning before I managed to take a step!) .
