hi norris9 have you tried free ads or yellow ads they are good i bourght a pennine pullman 94 of a friend of mine for £1,300 with everything and its fab
We use fabsil by putting it in a mister type garden sprayer (about 99p) and erect the unit spray it on if you boob and get too much in one place use an old paintbrush just sray till it is damp and leave to dry. If the water lies in balls when it rains you are fine if the canvas soaks it up it is worth doing.
------------- Good friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget.
Best place to get Fabsil from is a "proper camping shop". I have seen it advertised on the web so you could even get it delivered to your door. From memory 5 ltrs is just under £20-00 and 10litres was about £35-00.
Details of how to apply are on the tin. If not windy you can spray it on and then give it a wipe with a cloth. Once done you should not have to worry about it again for years.
Thanks for the info on Fabsil - another thing to add to the long list of 'things to do' before we attempt our maiden trip. Hoping to get away for the weekend after the bank holiday, looking at Home Far, Burnham on Sea. This is probably a really stupid question but we are very green - what do I need to ask for when I ring the site? I assume I tell them it's a folding camper and I need a pitch with EHU. Also, what sort of time are you expected to leave the pitch on your last day? If it's early in the morning would I be better of booking an extra night even if we don't use it just so we get the whole day on site? (I can hear you all moaning 'how thick is this person'!!!!!!)
Sarah, tips with a folding camper is if they say they don't take tents then you're more of a caravan as it doesn't need pegging out, if they only take tents then you'recanvas so you're a tent....a lot of sites don't know the difference bet the folding campers and the trailer tents anyway. We have used hard standing pitches and even fully serviced ones - have their own drain and water tap, can run water from a mains converter thing if you have one - we haven't,as they are on concrete/gravel then good in bad weather but more expensive, and standard grass ones with or without electric....all depends on the site at the end of the day
again the site usually says they want you off by a certain time but a lot will let you stay on free if they don't have anyone booked for your space - again depends on the site
don't be afraid to ask other campers questions too - there's alot of bits n pieces to pick up....
enjoy yourselves
mary
Sarah, after many years as caravanners, we gave up our mudane local council jobs to become campsite wardens down here on the south coast. We loved the job, it was the owners of the parks that were the drawbacks! Anyway about leaving - most sites ask you to vacate by 10 -11 am. This is usually enforced in the high season as the sites are pretty much full if the weather is good. Sometimes you may be able to extend your stay for a few hours - just ask the wardens/receptions - they are the people who know what is available after all. During the shoulder seasons its not really a hard and fast rule, just make enquiries.
Thanks to Dorset Belle and anyone else that has posted advice for me. Thanks for the good wishes also. Have now booked the site, just a couple of essentials left to buy like EHU, and we're off. Kids can't wait to see mum and dad wrestling with the awning! Probably a bit extreme putting it up for one night but it's a good chance to practise. Wish us luck, we're probably gonna need it
