After several months of debating which TT or FC to go for, we are going to look at the Jamet Jametic Classic and Camp-let Concorde TT's again.  It is looking like it will be between the two.  The only downside of the Camp-let is that it does not have a zip-in groundsheet like the Jametic and the price difference.  Apparently you can buy a bucket style groundsheet which can be fixed in.  Has anyone bought one of these groundsheets for their camp-let and if so what do you think?

Haven't tried it but would have thought it would be quite interesting, especially under the cooker leg..

We just use a large enough ground shaeet to extens across then up the sides.

I had asked the question to if the bucket groundsheet would sit snuggly to keep the draft and insects out - I was told that it fits on with rubber attachments somehow.  Just wondered if anyone has one as it sounds like its a fairly new thing, but a good idea for people like ourselves - we have been used to having a zip in ground sheet in the Biscaya and it keeps the tent very cosy and bug free - the only reason we want to change to a TT is for the speed of pitching and so on.  Everything else on the Camp-let looks exactly what we are looking for.  I am sure there are a lot of people that prefer not to have a zip in groundsheet, especially when we have warmer summers, but in the Biscaya there is always plenty of ventilation to keep it cool on hotter days.

 with the skirts pegged down and a ground sheet as Stuart has said would be just as cosy.i know the camplet is dearer but high qualtiy.the canvas high weight made by Isabaella considered best quality tent prouducer using only the best   canvas.everything well made stainless bolts fittings etc. 

so easy put up you would not be disapointed

We watched the sales person demonstrate putting up the Camp-let whilst we were at Camperlands looking at the Jametic a couple of months ago, and it definately looks very easy and quick to put up. 

We ended up not going for either in the end because OH was not convinced with the Camp-let not having a ZIG.  The minus point about the Jametic was that the kitchen was very heavy for us to lift and the beds were quite high to get in to - the plus point was it does have a very good ZIG. 

The Camp-let has loads going for it and the canvas looked excellent quality and finish all around - OH has said we will take another look next week and fingers crossed

We were in the same situation - and we have bought the Jamet Jametic. We pick it up this weekend so can't say how it is to camp in, but we chose it above the camp-let because:

i) it has the ZIG (but more space & better features than similar Trigano Odysee)

ii) both beds are slatted & comfortable (we have bought a folding step stool - a few pounds from e-bay - to overcome the height)

iii) loads of internal storage under the beds & in the trailer, and space for an underbed tent

iv) it's also a lot cheaper than the Camp-let & I'm not sure the difference in spec is worth the extra money - I'm no expert though!

The heavy kitchen was a concern, but the salesman showed us how to do it more easily, and also said the tent can be put up initially without removing the kitchen......not sure how true this is so we've bought it thinking we'll have to remove the kitchen each time!

Thanks for your reply - yes it helps to hear this.  The Jametic is a good quality TT tent and we really liked it when we looked at it, although I had trouble jumping onto the bed, but a small step stool would help as it would be no problem getting down.  Still concerned over the weight of the kitchen, but we will try it again.  Did the saleman demonstrate it being put up - just wondered if it is as easy as the Camp-let looks to put up?

did not realise kitchen had to be lifted does it have storage space for pots pans etc.if so you will have more weight to lift.you would not want the disadvange of having to pack them elsewhere.the only things we have in the car are our clothes and food

 We went for the Camplet because of ease of erection and most importantly that the kitchen just swung out. Being a pair of wrinklies we could not easily manoeuvre the kitchens in Cabanon and Raclet trailer tents.

To be honest neither Dave or myself are getting any younger either and this is the main reason why we are now looking at a TT as we both love camping. 

I had tried to lift the Jametic TT kitchen, but couldn't get it off the ground on my side (and this was with it empty)!, I didn't want to push myself any further incase I did myself damage - but will give it another go next week to see if there is a knack to doing it. Otherwise the Jametic is a lovely quality tent with a good price tag, and the ZIG is a definate plus.

We had also looked at the Raclet Allegra - again it is a good quality canvas TT, but IMHA the design was not for us.  Also I had read a couple of posts whereby people had been talking about how awkward the awning is to put up, which I cannot comment on as they only had the main body up on display. 

But the main reason for changing over to a TT is for ease of erection, and as David says, so that we can get off on our holiday with only the food and clothes to put in.

N.B. Really curious still to know if anyone has had and tested one of the bucket groundsheets, because due to the cost of the Camp-let this is going to be one of the big deciders for Dave.
