Hi everyone, a friend of mine is off to see a folding camper tonight and as I cannot offer him much advice I thought I would try here.

The camper is American I believe and it is being sold for 1000 Euro (£650) but does has a few holes in the canvas, apparantly been caused by the opening mechanism. It also has a hard roof and sleeps 6.

At this price and age could a DIY job be done on the canvass and what should he look out for on this particular model. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Here in the states we have a company called Bear Creek Canvas.  They make replacement canvas for virtualy all tent trailers.  Here is the link:

They are home based in Wisconsin.  The price for a replacement is around $600 us.  The shipping might be high $ going to the U.K. but I'm not sure.  If the camper is in really good condition it may be worth considering.   

BTW, what is the model year?

I have a 1980 Coleman Williamsburg and a canvas from bearcreek is $900 which is brillian that is with shipping . BUT I will have to pay 12% import duty and then 17.5% VAT which is a right pain and makes it almost as expansive as a new canvas from the UK . The camper is in brilliant condition just the stiching is deteriorating on the canvas, although it did withstand gales in Dorset 2 weeks ago
