Hi, am newbie to this site and collecting our Dandy Designer tomorrow.  Had a 1976 Dandy years ago and could'nt really buy anything else now.

Could anyone help with Electric Hook Up details - is there an average amp power on camping sites ?  What amp power is needed to boil a kettle or watch TV ?  Is there a list anywhere that I could refer to - I have visions of blacking out the entire site .

Thanks.

There is a list possibly in the equipment section. 10 amps is usual 16 amps quite common 6 is less usual. You will always be able to recharge the battery, watch telly and use lights. House kettles can be as much as 10 amps on their own so we bought one for the camper which at 750 watts is slower but safe. A 1KW fire needs 5amps 2 KW 10 amps (approx) so you need to be careful not to run too many heating things at once

Hi

I found this pdf leaflet from the caravan and camping club really usefull as far as ehu's go. It tells you how much each average item needs. So gives a good estimate you can do the conversion yourself I think its watts devided by volts. i.e if supply is 230 volts and your kettle uses 2300 watts then that will need 10amps. I think I got that info on here so you could do a search to double check.

http://www.campingandcaravanningclub.co.uk/Documents/Electricity%20for%20campers%20and%20caravanners.pdf

Hope that helps

Alf

p.s if you search in equipment and put in watts to amps a list comes up. v.v.useful

Thanks for both the prompt answers to my query.

I am now able to set off tomorrow with confidence.  Still got a lot to re-learn about camping etc but know now that help is at hand.

Pleased I joined this site and hope to anticipate in future.

Many Thanks.
