I'm new to this site and new to my 1992 Pennine Pullman!
Now, my question is, how do I know what the weight of this folding camper is? There is a plate with the serial number on it and that max gross weight says 700kg. Is this the correct weight?? I am a bit confused. I had previously thought that they were heavier than this.
Sorry if I seem a little dumb, and thank you in advance!
That does make more sense to me, as everything I had previously read about them seemed to indicate they were heavier. What confused us was the fact it said Max gross. So it does look like I'll have to take my trailer test after all, or hubby'll have to tow it everywhere....
Well for the likes of us who passed our test after a certain year (don't remember which, but before I passed my test anyway!!) if we wish to tow a trailer etc over the weight of 750kg have to take a test, yippee!! Not really sure where or how yet, but shall investigate. I just can't wait...
I'm not 100% but I think a 1992 pullman will prob be lighter than a 2009 model so the badge may be correct.
Also in terms of towing as long as your car and trailer/caravan combined weight is less than 3500kg anyone can tow. I passed my test in 2001 so had to check, its all on DVLA website but is confusing . . . . . . . . . they dont make it simple! (I initially thought i couldnt tow anything over 750kg)
Yeah you are right with the overall weight thing, I just read that somewhere else as well!!! So maybe I won't have to take a test after-all. Shame lol.
I havee pulled out our old 1990 brochure and as far as I'm aware the specs on a Pullman didn't change until they introduced the Sterling in a later year.
Ex. Works Weight.........420kg
Max. Gross Weight........700kg
If your beds are both the same size then the above weights should be correct.
It's amazing reading through everything (yes, I did have time on my hands last night!). I have learnt quite a lot about folding campers through this site, I shall be keeping my eye on it from now on!
