Hi
Has any one any information on the luggage rack for the cabanon stratos TT, is it easy to use, put on and off etc??

Thinking to get one to put our roof box on ( as the Ferry availability/ space , or lack of, means we can't put the roof box on the car.
Thanks

Hi Kjrowla

We have one fitted to our Mercury which is the same size.

They are quite straight forward to fit, but you need to change the legs ot accomadate this (bit of a pain to fit).

The legs have holes drilled through in which the bolts fit in (make sure they are in correctly holes to be facing the side).

Bars are then fitted to the each of the legs (bolted) and the top is secured to these.

We leave the top complete when not in use.

We have fitted extra bars across the luggage bars to tie on a few more items, but you wont need to.

Hope this helps

Thanks for that, we are doing this late in the day really, as we leave for France on the 22nd July !!

Do the different legs come with the rack then?

So I suppose when you stop to set up camp, you are just taking the top part off?? and does it take long?

Thanks for your help
Kate

While on the matter does anyone know if this particular luggage rack will fit a sunncamp 400se? was told previously that it does fit and are of far better quality but would like to hear from someone who has possibly done this already?!

Also where is the best/cheapest place to buy one of the cabanon luggage racks? thought >£200 at camperlands in Northenden was a bit steep.

Many thanks, Mike & Aimee

Hi
We ended up ordering one today, from a shop in South Wales, and yes, it was just a bit over £200,plus £20 carriage.
So I hope it works out.
Not too sure if it will fit the Sunncamp 400SE, but I think this has been mentioned on a previous thread.

Which ferry route are you going on? Even the chunnel is high enough to accomodate caravans so what makes you think a ro-ro ferry won't accomodate a car with a roof box on it?

Provided you are not putting a roof box on top of a Landrover Discovery (one of the tallest vehicles around and highly amusing watching the owners trying to load and unload the roof box without a long ladder) i would 'nt worry too much about putting the roof box on the car. Ferry operators load vehicles of a similar height together on the same deck. Because you are towing too they may automatically put you on the same deck as the caravans anyway so don't stress out about the height too much as you won't be as tall as a caravan (unless you are driving that Disco!). If by chance they challenge you about it when you check in at the port, feign ignorance and apologetically offer to pay the extra. But in the years i've been towing across the channel with a 2 man kayak or two sailboards and a quiver full of sails on the roof of our grand scenic i've never been stopped or had a problem with height.

Guess what (I'm not mad- really). Did manage to get one via Highbridge caravans, which is being delivered on Tuesday!!
I think the problem with the ferry (LD lines), was that we had already booked it a while ago before we had a top box, and then when we mentioned, when we were making alterations to the return trip, they said they were full for that height of vehicle !
Not too worry now though. We also usually carry a kayak, so hope this might go on the luggage rack too.
