On sunday I thought I might take out the trailer tent for a little ride as its been standing for a couple of weeks ,
I,ve had many caravans in the past and forgoten about , I,m New to the Trailer Tent world , does it need to be moved every so often like towing it for the wheels ect and lights , and what else can Ido to look after it in between holidays , I really feel sorry for it just sitting there beside the car
We take ours ou every so often and open it all out to give it a good airing, check tyres and lights etc. Any excuse for a bit of a play to be honest.

I open mine out a little on a fine day, just to check it and to let a little air in. At the same time I'll put the brake on and off a couple of times and push it forward or back for half a wheel turn. I never leave the brake on for the winter or extended periods of time...I chock it instead. As for the lights I can't check them as the TT is stored in a very awkward place and the car can't get up there to connect it up.
We used to have a folding camper, and out of season we just put it up on the steadies to take the weight off the tyres, and opened it up to give it an airing from time to time.
I can see our TT from the kitchen window, and I swear she looks happier when she knows we're going to use her, so I try to do that every month (even if it's one night down the road)
Our TT was off the road for a few years before we bought her, and all the electric were fine. Tyres needed some air, service on the cooker and a good airing/clean out, but that was about it
Prior to my forthcoming trip woth the motorcycle to Europe, I have my Trailer Tent erected in the garden. One reason is to check contents, contacts, ties and pegs (a few mods have been made to the guide ropes) and the other reason is to get it wet in the drizzle forcast. This helps the canvass to breath and expand the weft in the canvas thereby aiding waterproofing. I sit here now having breakfast and admiring all the little beads of water on it white totally dry inside. It also helps to dissapate the strong smell of canvas that can be a little overpowering on the first day/night out. Sometimes also it is easy to forget that little knack or tweak whick makes it easier so a rehearsal is a good idea anyway.
I just hope for a dry period so I can pack it down but it will be in use in Arnhem again next Friday night for the next 10 days touring.
