Hi all, have tried to use the search facility on the web  site but it's not working....my problem is our tap pipe appears to be leaking in our crusader fc.  There is a puddle of water in the cupboard under the sink all the time...and considering we are its first owners and and have only used it for a total of 6 days I am not impressed!  (altho i love the crusader fc itself...what luxury!!)  Is the water leak a common problem..is there an easy solution/what do we look for?  Hubby is quite handy but I am a bit cross cos didn't expect this sort of thing on a new model...is not the only thing (floor chipped, press stud on front fallen off)...I am not over impressed with build quality...unless we got the Friday afternoon model?!

I don't think so...didn't even occur to me it would have a guarantee!  We got it from Discover Leisure in January 09, it was ex-display and is a late 2007 .  We were told it was 2008 over the phone when the salesman told me about it when I phoned Discover to see if they had fc crusaders for sale.  Said I'd prob have it and paid refundable deposit, and a wk later drove up, but by the time we'd driven there and discovered it was 07, and it  was the last crusader they had at that time, we felt we would have it anyway, altho did have heated discussion with Discover over it...and the salesman just said take it or leave it.....nice man. They were having their auction the following wk of all the folding campers so I suppose to their way of thinking they would have sold it anyway to someone)

Discover haven't been brilliant on their after sales to be honest...we had a few things missing off, it and altho they kept saying they would send them they never did so I phoned Pennine in the end, who were brilliant, and sent the stuff straight away.  Phoned Pennine today and got a spare press stud thing for the front (cos that had fallen off..not brill build quality or perhaps I'm expecting too much?) but obvously don't know what the water problem is re spares.  Discover are a good 2 hours away for us...and hold out little hope of them repairing it to be honest. Don't think I would buy a fc off them again.....tho we cd have been unlucky

Are you sure this is the tap leaking , the reason i ask is if you empty a full sink by pulling the plug full out , the water hopper that the sink water goes into will overflow and leak and cause a puddle like you describe , the easy way to see this ,is to empty a full sink while looking under neath and you will see what i mean , this is a common fault on pathfinder /crusaders /pullmans etc , the way round it is to let the plug rest on the hole or put a penny washer in the plug hole to slow the flow down , it may be worth checking first , hope this is some help ,

If its not the sink overflowing it could be the mixer tap swivel joint loose. We had a similar problem, a quick tighten of the joint and problem solved.

We had that problem with our pullman and discovered that the water goes down the plug hole faster than the outlet can cope with.  Especially if there are bubbles!

we just bought our folding camper from discover in Coppull (used to be Barrons), although we are loving it (first trip our last weekend) we couldn't get the water to work my father in law came out to show us how to fix it as he is a camping buff but bearing in mind it was it's first trip out and it had allegedly had a full service just three days before I wasn't overly impressed.  Luckily dad showed us all sorts of stuff with the gas and electrics that really should have been shown to us by Discover.  They literally gave us a five minute lesson on how to put it down and that was that.  My friend bought a FC from them when it was still owned by Barrons and the after sales service was second to none, now that discover have it they seem to be letting themselves down as far as FC's are concerned.

I have the new Pennine/Conway Crusader and had exactly the same problem. Mine is about 3 months old now. All I had to do (a girlie!) was tighten the red and blue connectors in the actual cupboard. We were not getting a proper seal and hence both taps were leaking! We also experienced a leak with waste water as though the water couldn't escape out fast enough. This also was easily rectified we found that the grey pipe to the waste water hog must be pulled out fully instead of trying to tuck it nicely under the unit like we had done! Since making these two minor adjustments everything has been perfect! I hopethat this helps you too!

Hi

We had the very same problem with our 2006 Crusader, also bought from Discover at Chorley!

Ours was overflowing when emptying the sink, but it turned out that the pipe was too far into the waste water bottle and was just backing up.

On the Discover front, I rang them to enquire what they had and they told me that they had a 2007 model and gave me a price, I said we couldn't afford that.  Then he rang me back and said it was 2006 model actually and lowered the price by £500.00.  We said okay and paid the deposit too, on the basis if we didn't like it we got it back.  When we went to look at it, he presumed we were having it and didn't ask if we were happy with it or not!!!  Luckily it was what we wanted and was immaculate, but we later discovered, once home with it that there was a bit of stitching coming away and the awning curtain poles were missing.  The Salesman told us we had a 12 month warranty, so it went back in for the stiching to be repaired, but they weren't keen on doing it, I never got anywhere with the poles and bought them direct from Pennine!!

We spoke to the guy in Service and he told us that there weren't many staff that knew very much about FC's so maybe that is why they aren't very good on the after care for them!

we were told that the guy who knew about the campers when they were barrons had retired and no one else had any expertise with them!!  We liked the 2007 Trigano and had looked at it about 7-8 weeks ago when it was on sale for £6900 which was way over our budget when we went back two weeks ago (we inherited a bit of money) we asked them for their best price and he knocked off £1000 I then said there was no way we could afford that either but if he would drop another £1000 and gave us a 3 month warranty then we would take it - he dropped the price there and then so we took it although we were really pleased, his keeness to drop the price straight away made me wish we'd asked for an even bigger discount.  Anyway after the first trip last weekend we are really pleased with it so so far we think we've got a good buy.  Don't think they will be doing much more trade in FC's though as there were only a couple of really dodgy mouldy ones left when we went.  Real shame though cos we used to love it when it was Barons.

Had to tell you....phoned Pennine for a spare part yesterday afternoon....it arrived this morning!  Hows that for service?!!  (although would have rather not had to have the spare part at all...don't think the build quality is that great for the price, though perhaps the same can be said for all units on wheels...we've always had tents before now!)

In our Pathfinder days we had the same thing with the kitchen sink, and also with the bathroom basin if it was full and we folded it whilst it was still emptying. If they can  take their time they're OK.

The other time we had a leak we were using a Whale mains water hook up, so when a tap was turned it came in direct from the outside standpipe. Sometimes the pressure seemed too much and caused internal pipework leaks, so eventually we went back to the 12v pump and a water container.

I used to go to Barrons in Chorley for a look around and the staff there always were professional and helpful,  Like you though, it has completely changed since it became Discover.

I had a look at some of the fc's they had a few months ago.  They had about 10 of them, none of them had any information on them - even the price - and you couldnt get in half of them because the doors were locked, they couldnt find the keys, and many didnt have the steadies down anyway.

When I asked for the prices of some, the guy there said, he didnt know how much they were but they might be on the computer somewhere.  Absolutely rubbish!

It's a shame because when it was Barrons it was great, but it has gone really downhill since it became Discover.
