Just spent two week in Cornwall in the Dandy. We had the awning up for the kids to sleep in too.

The weather, as you may be aware was, well, a bit windy and wet for most of the time (1 beach day and 1 nice fine, windy day rest flippin hurricaine "left overs").

Dandy was wonderful-dry as a bone. No leaks, no drafts no pinging pegs or guys, or anything despite the fact that, liying in bed against the side wall (ply wood) I could feel the force of the wind pushing it in!

Awning rattled a bit in high winds, but the kids slept cosy and dry-think the gas fridge provided the awning with a bit of heating

DH was a camping sceptic and this was our first long break. I thought he might think camping was a dead loss, but no, he was impressed with the Dandy, though wants to take it abroad next year

WE did have a good time-nice site (C&CC THS at Harlyn bay) but we had a rather different holiday than I expected. One beach day only but lots of trips to NT houses etc, lots of cream teas and some cycling on the Camel trail.

I love my dandy too.

I have only been away in it once so far. Yep, it was raining when I was packing up. No problem as Dandys can be put away wet, no fear of mould.

Going away weekend after bank hol.

Im counting the days down.

It will probably rain again, but I dont care, I just love camping.

Don't forget Dandy owners do it PVC

PS - you know when you said the kids slept in the awning, were they in inner tents or something, as our awning is a little drafty ?

Hi Mandy Moo

The kids just sleep in the awning on camp beds in the awning, no inner tent or anything. Normally we have no real draughts at all (do you have the storm flap thing to go beneath the door, both popper on side skirts round the bed ends and also the "wings" of the awning sides?? Make sure these fold in alomg the sides of the Dandy towards the door, not out round the bed ends IYSWIM). Seems pretty snug usually, though a bit rattly in the hurricane winds!!

In fact DH was worried that the awning wouldn't be a safe place to put the fridge and kids together, as it said "do not use in an enclosed area" I reassured him there would be enough air circulating for this!

When I was a kid my sis and I slept in the (canvas) caravan awning without inner liners or anything, so it came as a surpise to me that you could get such things when I saw them in towsure recently.(and we had to try hard to keep the sleeping bags off the awning sides then as they would get soggy-no problem in a lovely PVC dandy awning).
