I think this horrible weather has a lot to answer for, I am sure that we would not have been moaning about the puting up and down of our campers and worring about wet pack ups. Our first season camping we managed at least 10 trips out and we couldn`t praise the practicality of it enough. I must admit if it was only the oh and me going away we would have gone more often. But the thought of being stuck with bad weather and having to stay under the canvas and entertain our liittle devil all the times fills me with dread , being outside in the fresh air to me is what camping is all about.

Heatwaves now on it`s way so bad thought set aside, lets all go for it with our campers and relish the luxury that they realy do offer us.

We have now managed to get off for the second time. We have just had 2 lovely nights at Holme Valley, Holmfirth. We had nice weather, only a small show of rain one night. Our son had a great time fishing and he made lots of friends.

Thanks everyone for you replies, I am sure they helped to reinspire me.

The truth is, if you have to book specific weeks to fit in with school hols, work commitments etc. and are camping in this country, you're going to encounter bad weather sometimes.

The luckiest folk are those who are retired who can just up and go whenever a few dry days are forecast, then come home when it changes.

Got a few more years yet - but bring it on I say!!
