Lots of people camp without a groundsheet, using mats at doorways.  We've got a weavetex breathable which is brilliant.  I got mine from ebay but shops like Towsure sell them too.

I Cant answer your question about towing.  Do you have a handbook?  It'll tell you in there what weight you can tow,

We have a sunncamp 350se we got it on e-bay 3 years ago and it came with the breathable ground sheets. We have tried camping with no ground sheet, camping with the breathable ground sheet and camping with a ordinary ground sheet and a breathable one on top.

If it is wet in the campsite were you pitch your tt if you have no ground sheet you will have a real mucky mess in your awning area, if wet and you use a breathable ground sheet on your pitch you will have a mucky mess and a very dirty breathable ground sheet in your awning area. so if wet I would say use a ordinary ground sheet in your awning area and if you like it nice under foot then put the breathable one on top if that.

If it is dry when camping then it is up to you, But with all the walking on the one area I find the ground is still soft and will get mucky quite fast even for only a weekend,(but we are in Wet Ireland, Yous have better weather over there.) So we use a ordinary ground sheet all the time.Hope this is as clear as mud!!

As for the towing with the car you will be fine tt are one of the easyest things to tow, you will not even notice it on behind you.

Some campsites only allow breathable groundsheets, others don't specify. You'll have to check with your particular campsite.

We have used both types as in the post above, depending on the weather and the state of the pitch. In Spain we use the breathable with a thin plastic dust sheet underneath as the pitches were mainly sandy dust or dustly sand   depending on which way you looked at it .  We've also gone without, when we stayed on a campsite with lovely grass and it was a pleasure...although now we've bought the new folding camper we've only got breathable, so lets hope we don't get a really soggy pitch next week

Hi natc, about getting an ordinary ground sheet, most camping shops have them sometimes Aldi do them as well, my one is 3.5x3.5 meters.

Just one thing about campsites not alowing ground sheets with your trailer tent on site. Most ordinary tents(not trailer tents) now a days have sowen in ground sheets in their sleeping pods, and camp sites owners do not say anything at all!!.

So I think it is time to all stand up to campsite owners and not let them tell us what and not what to use, after all it is us who have to camp in the wet not them.

Sorry for that rant I'm just back from lovely warm and dry france,back to wet and cold Ireland.

We used to carry a cheap polythene decorating sheet and if it was muddy where th groundsheet had to go we would pu this down first to keep the groundsheet clean and bin it afterwards,
