just changed cars from a reliable 1.8 laguna alize, to a renault megane convertible 1600cc, we have a fiesta, and though it states in the manual it is well within the limits of the car, something tells me that it aint a good thing, just one of those things!!, at the mo i am reluctant to put on a hitch, just wondering if any others have some vehicle of this type and towing a fiesta size unit or even bigger if they are ok with it , thanks

Sorry to threadjack, but we're about to invest in a trailer tent and we only have a 1.3 Yaris Verso - are we being a bit ambitious?
well we used to have a raclet tt,`jade` and towed that with a 1.4 renault, across france, and elsewhere, the weight diff between tt and fc`s is notably different, so you should have no probs, enjoy!!!

If you keep the laden weight of the TT below 85% of the kerbside weight of the car (if the TT has brakes) or below 50% (if it hasn't got brakes - legal requirement this) you should be OK in most circumstamces.
I used to have a pennine fiesta which I towed with ease with a megane 1600cc. Just be carefull how much stuff you cram in the trailer(there is loads of space under the seats etc) as its very easy to massively increase the weight of the trailer.
