Hi, thinking of upgrading to a folding camper. Can anyone give any advice as to quality difference between these two makes ie.is one better than the other?
I've noticed there seems to be more pennine available for sale but is that because there are more about or people do not like them as much!?
the two models I'm interested in are the pullman or the randger
When we bought our Pullman we had looked at a couple of new Trigano folding campers. We thought the Pennine was better quality , but it all boils down to personal choice. We have never regretted buying the Pullman.
We bought a Pullman this year and are very pleased with it. We also looked at the Trigano but like Glenn we thought the Pullman was better quality. The Pullman has gas struts to help you flip out the beds, I can do it on my own easily. Look around its all up to budgets and personal choice. Good luck with your choice.
We have had a Randger TC for 2 years now and have been really pleased with it. When we were making comparisons we found that the Randger had two king size beds and liked the way the toilet compartment could be altered to provide a larger bedroom/dressing area at one end. Also the Trigano included a huge awning in the price which the others did not.
when we looked at the two folders they where much the same thing but one thing that struck out more than anything else was that if you were rather found of the odd bar of chocolate! the trigano door was a little tight and this became more apparant if you were going to carry cups of tea or anything hot out.
We looked at both. We went for the Trigano, which can be put up single handed ,easily. We thought the quality of the tigano was equal to the Pullman, for a lot less money. So it depends how much money you have as to whether or not you go for the Randger or spend more on the Pullman. The Randger also had the awning which was included in the price
Wellllllllllllll my wife and I have just returned from North Wales (last night). We have a Trigano Randger 575 LX and it was great. It was warm, comfortable and the beds were really large and comfy as well. This, considering the constant rain, wind etc says a great deal.
Little things peeved me a bit in that you have to check on a regular basis the little mini basin under the sink unit to make sure it does not get blocked or you'll get a flood. The camper towed lovely with my 95 1.8 Cavalier Hatchback at the legal limits with even a little to spare at times. I also got about 350 miles to a tank full of juice.
The only advice I will give is not not to go to North Wales when it's peeeing down with rain and wind taking the mother in law, the wife (both vertically challenged) and 3 dogs. It was murder as it felt like I was doing all the hard work on my own, but I managed it har har har. The awning was really a nice size and, by taking out the windows, I managed to erect that on my own as well. The windows were put back in place after the awning was erected.
So all in all it was a good christening for our new 575 LX Randger and we are looking forward to using it in the sunshine next summer just for a change from the wind and rain.
Hi all, don't think one is particularly better than the other-(we have a pennine sterling) bought it just 4 weeks ago having looked at pennine, conway & trigano. Think as Maxwell says above-it's just personal choice. We didn't pay full price-£6500 for the sterling with awning (a bit less than the randger without the toilet) although prices are changing at the moment so they may be cheaper now.At the end of the day we just preferred the "look" of the lounge on the Pennine-sad I know but after all, it's where you will be sitting most of the time you are in it !! Although to be honest the pennine is a squeeze in the garage so I don't think the Trigano would fit-(now that would have been a downer!!). Also took into account that as they are made in Britain,(Accrington,15 mins away from us) getting hold of spares shouldn't be too much of a problem. At the end of the day,it's a lot of money, so go with what ever you feel inside & enjoy !! Dave & Jan-our 2nd time out was similar to your experience- we were in the lakes a fortnight ago getting blown about & rained on-at least we were off the ground out of the puddles-Now that is the same in Trigano or Pennine!!
