We have just got a 1984 Esterel Folding Caravan.  We are having problems putting this up.  Can anyone give any advise on how to erect. When we put one side up and try to put the back up the front drops down.

I dont have one of these myself, but I helped a friend of mine to put the one he has up.From what i remember we put the back up, he then fixed what look like allan keys into the top corners untill we got the front up, he then took them out before we fixed the sides into possition, i hope that helps a bit.I was quite impressed as it only took 4-5 mins to erect.17

We have an early 80s Esterel (not looked underneath to find the year yet!) not sure if it differs from yours. It sounds as if maybe your gas struts aren't holding the side up? We lift one end, hmm the one furthest from the tow bar I think) and then pop round and do the other one and they just seem to stay where we left them we don't need to put allan keys in anywhere and is up in less than a minute. Sorry, I know it's not much help!

Our gas struts are on the inside of the side panels, some have them on the outside, I'm not sure but some may even not have had them fitted.

Our gas struts are on the inside.  Do you know how much they are if we need to replace them and also where to get them from?

No but I would think you could replace them with the boot lid struts off a car....you would just need to remove them and take them to the local scrapyard with you to get a similar size.
