We've just been away camping with some friends of ours who are just about to have a baby (it's due next week!). They agreed that a TT, with its off-the-ground beds, is just what they need to go on holiday, but what with the credit crunch and maternity leave etc. there is absolutely no way they can afford even a couple of hundred quid.
I said that I would ask here on the off chance that somebody had a TT that they no longer wanted. It doesn't have to be anything much, just road legal and waterproof.
Obviously I know it's a long shot, and that even quite tatty TTs go for more money than they have on ebay, but I thought it would just be worth an ask - you would be doing a young family a big favour!
I know it's really cheeky asking like this, but we are also looking out in local ads and on ebay, and perhaps we might find one there for not too much.
It's how I got my first TT - a family friend gave me an elderly Conway when I was an impoverished student, and it did me for quite a few years. When I upgraded I gave it away - a) because it wasn't worth much, and b) because it didn't seem right to sell it when I hadn't paid for it. I saw it a couple of years ago - still going strong!
This may be a long shot but a dealer ( discover) was recently offering that for a payment of 5 pounds a customer was able to take an old part x trailer tent away with them.no warranties etc and soldas seen.
This was cheaper than them disposing of older un sellable tents.
Luck has to be on your side when you call.
Also have a look a the preloved site where you can pick up some very good bargains without an auction process
