It is only the latest models that are made from lightweight acrylic, the same stuff as awnings have been made from for a while.  They make no claims to be able to strore the camper when wet, only that they can be folded wet as the fabric is not porous.  All of the canvas ones must be completely dry before storing.

They look nice but are expensive. I'm going to do abit of research to see if i can find somewhere local that sells Dandy's and i'm going to go and have a look at them. Think it'll have to be a 2nd hand one tho...!!

Hi Nic, No you are not being thick- I couldn't and still can't get my head around it! The fabric is acrylic. The water literally just bounces off it! I was horrified the first time that I saw a salesman throw a glass of water at it in a showroom. It literally just bounces off. If there are any small residues (in extreme conditions!) you just shake the acrylic! It would just about be impossible to get the interior wet! The other good thing that I don't understand is that this new acrylic is also breathable and yet insulated! Please don't ask me how on this one but all I can say is it certainly lives up to its claims and its even better than I could have imagined. I agree that they are a lot of money but given the investment and technology that went into this I am delighted with it and would recommend one to anyone!

P.S. At the moemnt they only make the 2 top models in this acrylic but I believe that they have been so sucessful they are just about going to give the acrylic option to the entire range next year!

The fabric looks & feels like that used as a breathable membrene in buildings.  We had a loft conversion done last year & all of the woodwork on the dormer was covered in it fefore the slates were added.

Just thought of one extra question - can you go away in the winter with a folding camper? Not just the new acrylic ones but the older canvas ones? My TT gets very cold - too cold really - what a FC like??

Yes, we take a fan heater & have camped in snow a couple of times.  Walls & roof in the Dandy are insulated &  there is a built in gas fire in the floor.
