Picking up my folding camper on Friday.

we am thinking about going away in the schoolhalf term, end of october.

Are we mad  or just being wimps if we don't do it.I know i have a heater as standard but are there any concerns with using the camper this late in the year apart from the wet.

We are thinking about going to the cotswolds for a couple of nights, any suggestion to any good sites with things to do localy if the weather is pants.

Also i would like it as flat and easy to drive into,as possible, it will be my first outing in it which could be fun.

We have just bought a Dandy and are going away for the October school week ......can't wait.

as a regular October half term camper, i would suggest buying and electric fan heater as it saves your gas on the in built heater.  Add an extra light or two, as it does get dark early that time of year, and you should be nice and comfortable.

not knowing the area you are looking at, i cant help with a site suggestion.

Now that I have started to have a good look around this forum,spending hours at the moment , I managed to find a discussion about  camping later in the year. lots of people camp all year round with no issues with there campers, it's my wife i'm more worried about. I'm a scout leader, been out many times in dec/jan with just a basher and sleeping bag with the scouts, nothing like waking up in the morning with snow 12inches from your face.

thanks for the commentIabout the heater,I believe the heater in the folding camper is a fitted electric fan heater, it a good point though , I will check when i pick her  up on Friday. I have several spare fan heaters so i will take an extra one as well just in case it get cold or the fitted one is not very good.

I have also now seen the camp site search link with all the reviews.

I have decided to not go to far  away fro home the first outing we do, i have chose  Lincoln Farm Park and am in the process of booking. have spocken to the booking staff who seem great and answered all my querys.

So I might see some of you there, 2009 conway crusader, wife and 3 kids, we will be the ones who will be doing the comedy act.

Hi, we have just come back from Lincoln Farm Park in Standlake, Oxford and we loved it. Bus to Oxford 40 mins or drive to park and ride to go into Oxford. We also went to Stow on the wold/Burford and  Bourton-on-The water.

The site is one of the Best, we had pitch no 40 - It had a drive way!! Our folding camper tucked away in the corner and we had loads of room and privacy.

There is the option of booking out the pool - The £18 pr hour is the better option, you get a much better swim.

thanks for the  replys, i have booked Lincon farm park. I only live about 25miles away from Oxford (Aylesbury). I have not been to Stow on the Wold or Bourton for many years, This area of the country is so lovely.

Being our first outing, I wanted to stay close to home so if all goes wrong, we don't have hours of driving, or can nip back home if we forget anything.
