I know FCs don't need pegging out like a TT but I wouldn't be able to erect it on my own and I want something with solid sides.
Not trying to convert you, if its a folding caravan you want then go for it, but why couldn't you put a folding camper up on your? I can manage ours. Looking at a later post on this subject there seems to be a lot more involved with putting a caravan up than a camper.
Also referring to another post on here, I totally agree with you about the new Pennines being Campers and not Caravans. The only times I refer to ours as being a caravan is when a site asks what a folding camper is and I reply "it's like a soft top caravan" unless they charge for awnings then it's described as like a trailer tent
Ok I give up trying to type the difference I've found between folding camper and folding caravan, all I will say...again...is that I find it 200% easier and quicker, lol end of, it's not as hard as it reads believe me! Anyone is welcome to put Ethelbert up or have a look at him if they're thinking of buying one (not that we're selling yet!).
Right names - Nope not coming to me at all!! Rex is good I like that. Perhaps I have to see the things before these obscure names pop in to my head lol
Keep looking Celeste, they pop up when you least expect it.
Having just read this thread I thought I'd my penniesworth. I bought my Gobur (Wendy House) this year and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of caravanning on my own with like minded people and with friends. My Wendy House is 14 years old but looks new, thanks to the lovely people at Gobur who take a lot of time and effort to ensure customers are well looked after.
Like any new 'toy' it takes time to get used to what it will do, but can't wait til next year when I'll get more use out of it. What I would like to know though, if there are any Gobur users out there.
Mine hasn't got built in heating, is it warm in the winter with an electric fire? Its cosy with the gas on and does get really warm but I'm a bit nervous of using it this winter.
Either get a small oil filled radiator or a small convector heater, either of these will keep you toasty!! You could get a fan heater but personally the noise of it clicking on and off drives me insane, but it's personal choice!
With reference to Tunstallwood's post above, I agree totally about the oil filled rad or convector heater.
We have been out in sub zero with snow on the ground and all we needed to do was leave on a 600w oil filled rad continuously and supplement with a 1000w fan heater until we went to bed. We were completely comfortable.
Just as another suggestion, in the depths of winter we carry an electric overblanket. But have never felt the need to use it.
Ahhhh Rex the Export it is then Thanks for that lol now I'm picking up a Rapido Record tomorrow lol not going to ask anyone for names for that as I'm stripping bits off it for mine.
Thanks for your advice - will definitely invest in a oil fired rad or convector and may give it a go in Feb. As you can see as a newby to caravanning a little bit nervous of taking the plunge.
We use a little thermostat fan and are as warm as toast with it, dont have any heating in my van at all but found the little fan is very good, dont mind it switching on and off, I seem to be able to blank that out, as long as I am warm I am happy :-)
