hi, just bought our first folding camper it a bonair 8 berth and we are looking to insurance for it can you help us out with best one to go with cheers steve.
I agree with Carefree Insurance.
Because my trailer tent does not have a UK dealership the majority of insurers ran a mile. Carefree not only accepted it but quoted a lower price than many others did before they realised it was a "Personal import".
I've gone with camping and Caravan carefree this year they were better value than the others, the only cheaper one was
the insurance for trailer tents mentioned above but their insurance doc was full of typos so i decided to give them a wide birth

Please DO NOT go with Carefree! I had a new Pennine insured with them. We had minor damage and they told us to take it to Lowdham Leisure to get it repaired. Whist it was there Lowdham Leisure burnt down along with our Pennine! Would you believe it was our fault?! (yep we were 200 miles away at home) and we had to claim off our policy! not only that they took numerous telephone calls and ages to pay up! I remember having to speak to the president or whoevber stating that if it was a car it would all have been dealt with! I cannot to this day understand how we had to claim for a total write off on our insurance!
I was born unlucky and was also a flood victim. We had the house insured with Zurich. They were incredible. Needless to say just about everything is insured with them now. They say "You never know how good your insurance is until you have to claim!" My instant of having a total write off was years ago but it still leaves a very unpleasant taste in my mouth!
We use to be with insurancefortrailertents who left us in the lurch when we changed storage and refused to continue with insurance ,so went with Caravan guard and can highly recommend them.
Please make sure you get your insurance before your 1st trip, I was following my Mum & Dad home when they picked up their new (2nd hand) folding camper
they were going to get it insured when they got home, had other things on my mind, so didn't look at the camper, but have been told by the recovery people it is not road worthy
The important thing in my mind is my Mum, Dad & Lucky Lux the dog were all ok
it is under investigation so can say too much, but it looks like the front left wheel locked, 30 mile back up the road, he had a problem the 'one of the breakdown services' looked at and gave the all clear. in some ways, i'm happy it was me in the car that was following them
for them it was going to be trailer ins, but sorry no help in saying what would be best for you
