Hi All

I have just bought a folding camper and would like to know if by law i have to use towing mirrors.

We recently bought a pathfinder and found my rear views were very limited and decided to buy towiing mirrors.

What a difference , they are well worth the investment and as i have since found keep me within the law

For the sake of a couple of quid I can't see why anyone wouldn't buy them. If it even gives you a couple more feet of rear view then it's got to be worth it.

If the trailer is the same width or narrower you don't, if it is even a little wider then you do.  There is a rule about how far back you have to be able to see somewhere.

I agree with Steve, only if the trailer is wider than your Car.

I went to local cop-shop, they knew nothing about the 'new' changes to the law. after an hour and 20 mins, we found out that if the car is narrower than the trailer you need mirrors, but fitted mirrors must not protrude more than 200mm wider than the trailer. Other changes say that mirrors must be stamped/etched with a kitemark that says they are safety glass.
