I posted a while ago in this thread which may help as well.
I have used mine every time we go away and the rack is (very) expensive but secure. The good thing about the Camplet rack (apart from it being specificaly designed for the purpose) is that the inverted V bar that holds the frame of the bike is quite wide where it joins the frame on the rack and stops any sideways movement in the bikes.
I use foam/carrymat around the bike frame to stop scratching as the clamp does not have this on it. Also less wind resistance with them on the trailer (depending on the car you tow with).
