HI we have a folding camper that we love but it came with no awning or sun canopy, for ease of putting up we would like a sun canopy - will be contacting TVS at Bolton this week but was wondering if anyone had any idea of cost? And if the price is out of our budget has anyone sucessfully made their own?

You are probably looking at £150-£250 for a sun canopy and frame - we paid £125 in 2007 from thetentshop (Burcroft) for a Countryman one that we tie on to the front of our Fiesta awning.

It always rains when we go camping but the dog insists on sitting outside in case he misses anything so it gives us somewhere dry to sit. 

If you do decide to go the homemade route there are full instruction (I think for a Cruiser) in the Features/Tips button on the menu above.

I've been thinking about this for my Pathfinder. If I'm on my own I don't really need or want the full awning, but a bit of outdoor shade would be quite good.I can put the awning up and down on my own, but it does take time and effort.

I'm thinking if I attach a couple of hooks with bungy cord to the corners and middle of one edge they'll hook into the awning frame holes on the camper. Add a couple of tent poles for the fornt edge with either guy ropes or ratchet straps to tension, and I think it would work with a minimum of hassle to put up.

I wouldn't want to rely on it in high winds, but for summer shade it should work.
