just thought i would post an update after my original post asking for advice on purchase of a TT.

as mentioned in the previous post i was looking at a jammet texas for £2000 brand new, which i thought was a reasonable price, however some site members recommended the sunncamp range.

any way i took the family out this weekend to a few dealers to have a look at what was available.  i must admit i was a bit dissapointed with the range some of the dealers had together with not being able to view errected TTs for the ranges i was interested in (after all you dont buy a car without a test drive)

the last stop of the day was camperlands in manchester and to my delight they had a sunncamp 350se pitched and ready for inspection.

price was £2000, good sized awning and comes with a complete hoard of extra goodies thrown in for the end of season sale saving about £300 on the individual prices.  they were even willing to be flexible on the goodies thrown in to.

to cut a long story short the wife was very surprised at the size of the thing and its features.  so we are now proud owners of our first TT and hopefully will be picking it up in a few weeks.

a couple of questions for you though.

can anyone recommend any good value companies for storage, on the wirral?

can anyone recommend a towbar supplier, fitter on the wirral.

thanks to everyone for the help and advice already given.

regards

griv

Hiya Griv, coming from scotland I dont know the area, but i did a search, and it came back with  two around the wirral, that do storage..see below..  Met a nice guy from on here, "Toms"

who  uses a sunncamp.. i have to say..looked pretty impressive when it was up.. some folk dont like the sunncamps etc.. but from what I could see.. it looked good, it was dry, and bags of room...

hope this is of some use for you..

Happy Trailor Tenting..

Hi Grivbat, Larton Liveries near West Kirby have storage for caravans & so do Aspinalls in Moreton, not sure about TTs tho'.There a few more in Yellow pages, but don't know anything about them.                                                                       We had a towbar fitted recently by a company in Neston "The Auto Electrician" also in Birkenhead 0151 3366337 & 0151 6473945, prices seem OK & they did a good job.

Good Luck

Hi Grivbat ,

We have a 400se , all I can say is that you will not be disappointed . We have had it two years now and it has not let us down . Even in the strong wind and heavy rain this year. Look after your kit and it will last for ages .

Hi griv

Have you thought of asking your local council if they have any garages to rent?  I don't know what caravan storage costs these days but I rent a garage about a mile from home for £23 per month.  Not only does it keep my tt nice and dry but I can fill the rest of it with loads of other junk!!  You just need to make sure it can be securely locked and check on it from time to time.

If there is a branch of Towsure in your area, we found them very reasonably priced for fitting a towbar - considerably cheaper than we have paid before.

Thanks for all the information and advice.

the only place i have been able to find space at is at the Hooton Park Trust by junction 6 of the M53.  paid deposit and the rest is due when i drop the TT off.  It was a bit dearer than other places but its got CCTV etc.

Must admit i completely forgot about contacting the council reference garages, may still give em a ring.

as for the towbar the local suppliers/fitters are the same price as the car dealership so as they are only just around the corner from me i will use them.

once again thanks for all teh help and advice.  no doubt i will be back for more. lol

regards

griv
