Been looking under our Pennine F/C and found a mistery. Looking from the nearside to the rear of the wheel, there's a box attatched just behind the axel, it's about (I'm guessing here) 7 in wide x 5 in high x 12 in long, the end has what looks like a round inspection plate in it, the long side has another smaller box attached, the side of which facing the rear is full of small round holes. I've put a photo in the Gallery,Anyone able to help me out with the answere please. Jock75

You do realise of course, as a result of your question, I have to go outside in the cold with a torch to look if mine has one too. Curious!

No, just looked. We haven't got one. Just the national spiders web collection and some left over leaves from last year. Could it be something to do with the brake cables? Though it certainly does not look like original equipment. Is it bolted to the actual floor of the camper? Whatever it is, I would certainly be interested in finding out.

It is an underfloor gas heater.  My Dandy has one & Pennine used to fit the same model.  They were made in Holland by Riviera.  Mine does not work, even though I bought a second hand spare one off eBay to repair & swap I haven't got round to it yet.  The little box with the holes in is the vent.  They take air from outside & vent outside too so no chance of Carbon Monoxide poisoning.  They are supphosed to be very good.  Unfortunately they are no longer made.  There will be a loose floor board above the heater inside the camper with a steel plate underneath that.  Lift these out & there should be a separate grill that slots in when the thing is lit.  Here is a link to the instructions on the Dandy Owners Group.  You may need to join to see it, but that is painless enough.

Steve.

Steve tried your link but it's "broken" Our F/C is a 1993 or 4  Pullman, the carpet has no access holes in the floor, infact the carpet is like new and is fitted under all the units.Looked under neath at it again to-day, nothing seems to be connected to it. Could it be an upgrade that was never finished ??? Jock

The link just workrd fer me. It is a Word docoment. I can email it if you like. This would have been a factory fitted extra when built. I reckon the camper has been re-carpeted over the top when it has stopped working.

Steve.
