Hi, we have a Conway Coniston Special Trailer Tent and I have for some time now been trying to get a sun canopy. I've looked on ebay and most sun canopy's come attached to a whole unit. I've looked and looked but don't seem to be able to find anywhere where to get one.
My next thought is that perhaps some of the other sun canopies for other type of tents may fit with a little bit of converting.
Does anybody know if this is possible or shall I just get one and try it! I don't particularly want to waste the money.
ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GRATEFULLY EXCEPTED

You're in luck. Tent Valeting Services make a Universal Sun Canopy that fits most Conways, both flat and peak fronted ones. TVS hold all the old Conway stock (they bought it up after the fire that destroyed the Conway factory) and they use the original Conway canvas for the sun canopies. Unfortunately this doesn't mean you get a choice of colour if buying one from stock but it's possible that they would make one up for you if they have the correct canvas...and at a price.

They cost around £95 at present and for that you get the canopy, guylines and the full frame with the different ridge poles that fit the two different styles of awning front. I have one...you can see it on my profile pix, in the standard grey with burgundy trim. (I was lucky...it matches my Camargue!) It's a very sturdy piece of kit, very weatherproof and I personally think it's the best thing I've bought in years.

Thanks for that, great information. I'll have a look at their website and hopefully I'll be in luck.

Thanks again for your prompt reply, I've been thinking about the sun canopy problem all of last year, wish I had asked the question then.

i tried to get a universal canopy for my canterbury from tvs,the cheap universal only comes with 2 poles at the front, and ties onto main frame.the dearer one(£200+),comes with a full frame, but no sides,we decided against it,as we only paid £350 for the unit.

Admittedly I bought mine in 2007 and the design may have changed but I have a full U frame on the front, with a ridge pole that attaches onto the main frame. It either ties onto the D-rings above the stub awning or, if you have a flat front awning with spiked support poles it slots onto the spiked poles. I don't have sides though, but as the original Camargue sun canopy didn't have optional sides I've never felt the lack. Some of the flat front models originally had zip-on canopies but the Camargue canopy has always been a tie-on model. That's what the big front D-rings above the canopy are for. (There are seperate guy-line rings as well.)

As I said this was in 2007 and there was only one sun canopy availible from TVS. Mine cost £115. For the sake of future reference when the next person asks, can you clarify that there are now two TVS-Conway sun canopies, a simple pole-out flap and a framed one like mine? Or are the details different again? I can only see the Universal Sun Canopy + Frame listed on TVS, in grey with burgundy trim, £95. I can't see one for £200+, unless you're either talking about original stock ones (none listed for the Canterbury at present) or a made to order one?

i actually spoke to graham at tvs,who kindly rang me up after i had emailed asking about them.they only had 1 of the expensive universal awnings left then(november),which was a different colour from our awnings,so must have sold it.they never had any proper ones for our canterbury, just universal ones,i think he said they only had 3 of them left as well.
