Look for holes in the canvas (however small); repairs to canvas (should look professional and certainly not just doen with some tape); poles should not bent at all or have kinks in them; no signs of damage to exterior (suggesting a crash); no mould on canvas; any pipework for gas should be free from dents and kinks; tyres should have legal tread depth (1.6mm across middle of tyre) and not show any cracks or bulges (if everything else is fine but tyres need replacing then don't discount buying it, but you will need to get them replaced before taking it on to the road - you can get a fine of upto £2500 and 3 point son your licence for each defective tyre).
Also look for any signs of cracking or stress on the chassis .
