If a Quechua Base Seconds (as a freestanding day tent type of arrangement) would do they're now only £49.99 because they are being described as "End of Collection" (grey only but that goes with the dandy light or dark blue fairly well). I had been toying with the idea of getting one to use when we're away just for a few days instead of the PVC awning and ordered one on Sunday when I saw the price. The Decathlon Surrey Quays store (serving the south via web orders) looks as if it has now run out (from the 13 when I ordered) but it looks as if there are still some available in other stores. It arrived today and looks very well made for that price (a word of warning - don't try to put it up indoors to see what it looks like!) and looks as if it will work very well. Didn't even have that much trouble folding it away having studied the video on their website.

At the moment we have a Dandy 4 berth with a lightweight awning but OH is wondering if a 6 berth would be better (as he wouldn't have to do all that pegging out!). His thinking is that with a 6 we wouldn't need an awning as there's more room inside. I however do wonder about this. The awning is great to sit in in the evenings or on a hot day with the sides out, and is fab for storing muddy boots, drying wet towels, keeping the rubbish sack out of sight etc etc. At the moment we live most of the time in the awning and just use the main cabin for cooking, sleeping and storage of food and clothes. What's your main reason for wanting an awning with a 6?
We have just made that change we had a delta with original awning and decided a 6 would negate the need for an awning we where correct we don't need one but the trouble is i want one.

------------- they said it couldnt be done so i left it and went camping
a bad days camping is better than a good day at work
We use a Sunncamp Travel Cabin (freestanding motorhome awning) with our Pennine Sovereign on short trips - its 3mx3m plus a tunnel which attaches to the camper. http://www.driveaway-awnings.co.uk/sunncamp_25.html.

glad you have posted that, its the one i am considering for my dandy 6 could you give ma an idea as to how deep the tunnel is as i am pretty sure my door is too high for the frame so i need it to open in the tunnel area.
thanks mike

Glad I saw this thread - it has helped us make our decision to stick with our 4 berth and nicely fitted awning!
I just feel to be camping when not in a tent i just need to sit in an awning, perhaps i should change the dandy for a canvass camper JUST JOKING

We found the Dandy Destiny is spacious enough inside for myself, hubby and our 3 children to eat sleep and on bad weather days shelter from the wind and rain. However owning 2 rather large golden retriever dogs we have found the exra space is needed to house them and any muddy boots etc. also if it is raining having some shelter over the door is better than rain beating in at you.
