Hi everyone,
Just wonder whether anyone can give us some advice.We have just bought a 1997 Dandy Designer(which I can't wait to go away in-especially to try out the awning as we didn't have one with our Dandy 6 ).Our good old Dandy 6 table had had folding legs attached to it and was nearly as sturdy as our home dining table.The designer has the original pole and hole design and despite pushing the pole in as far as pos both ends you would hardly dare rest a cup of tea on without children around,let alone try and serve up lunch on it,it is so very wobbly!Are we doing something wrong,or are they all like that? The pole is shiny metal,whereas I thought they were black,but maybe that was the older ones.Either way,any suggestions ?

p.s. I am so excited as my darling husband has decided to take us all to Switzerland in the summer now that we have a smaller trailer to tow.Have booked a little campsite in the mountains and prepare to take tins and packets galore to keep the costs down but can naerly hear the cowbells already!

Hello Anna,

The table should be fairly sturdy. We sit 3 round it when we have to. Are all the screws tight on the table & floor brackets? They are standard motorhome parts, I'll post links to where to get them replaced (on the Wii so no c&p). Been to Switzerland, you'll love it. Prices not too bad. You'll need “Vignettes” for the car & camper (a bit like a tax disc). Get them before you go from Swiss travel service in London to avoid queueing at the border. Enjoy.

Switzerland - how lovely - lucky you!

Your comment about the Dandy table being nearly as solid as the one at home made me smile - yes, I recall I could just about lift the one we had in our original Dandy. In our current model we've got a lighterweight table as we tend to use it more in the awning and don't want to risk a hernia lifting it around. Yes, all Dandy components are made to last!

Thanks for the post,Steve.I will recheck the screws when we set up for a trial run at half term.I almost wonder whether the pole is a replacement and not an exact fit for the holes as it doesn't seem to go right in,so the links might be useful.

It's helpful to know about the vignettes too.

Thanks for your post ,Rivadan.I've got a lightweight camping table which I thought of using instead of the Dandy one but I would need to bring the Dandy one if we ever want to sleep all of us in the camper for a one-night stop for example.

We have never been abroad as a family before but I've always wanted to take the family to Switzerland as I've never forgotten the amazing time I had there to celebrate my parents'silver wedding(complete with Lada estate and frame tent and a degree of resoucefulness!)
