hi all

been offered a side awning for a motorhome which i would use with our rapido as the original awnings looking a bit tired

does anyone have thee height of the roofline and the width,as ours is folded and over at a garage in storage and they need to know asap if i want it

i cant seem to find any info on the web and wont able to unfold it until the weekend

im still undecided though what to buy,as i either need to modify the rail or the new awning but this type is a freestanding one for a motorhome so i guess would have sucker pads or just push up against the sides of the van

other good thing is they are supposedly up in 20 mins

thanks

matt

This is the height & width of mine you can adapt a 12ft awning to fit. As you've got the original awning you could get an awning tape machined on it the same as the original for it to fit.

caravan width
366cms
12feet

caravan height
200cms
6.5ft

I modified an awning a few years ago for my exportmatic when I had it

It involved stitching an exrta awning tape about 3 cm higher than the original half way across the awning, the reason for this is that all the rapido's have a split awning rail.

you should be able to see what i mean if you look at the tape on the original awning

Regards

John

Thanks for the replies

ive 2 choices

either get a 12ft proper awning and modifiy it

or get a motorhome type one that although wont fit the rails , it will be much easier

to put up and although not as wide will be much deeper

the one ive seen was a easycamp one, they will also work out cheaper

i wsa wondering if anyone has tried one or anything similar ? most of our trips will be long weekends like last year

There was one on eBay a couple of months ago that had a MoveliteXL awning which fitted round the front of the Confort and had straps over the top. I can't comment what it was like from personal experience though.

According to the NR website a 12ft awning is 747-777 so you may be ok.
