Hi all. Got my eye on a lovely 1996 conway countryman. It is great , but the seller says that the fridge is fine, but will only work on gas. Could anyone tell me if this will pose a problem?. As tent campers, we have no knowledge about fridges in folding campers. Would appreciate your advice.
They are better on gas,it just means you wont be able to keep it cool whilst driving .Assuming it is the fridge and not the electrics,it is probably in need of a new heater element. Is it easy to get at the back? If not,I would live with it.

I wouldn't let it put me off if the price was right, doubt you'll ever use as much gas as a new fridge would cost. Ours works better on gas than electric.

We are out in our Countryman most weekends and only run our fridge on gas as we never bother with ehu. Just pack the food in a coolbag with freezer packs for travelling and make sure the camper is level before lighting the fridge and you will be fine. We bought ours last year after being out of the camping scene for several years so we are making up for lost time and find the Countryman was a great buy.
