I need to re fix a rear grab handle on a pennine pathfinder, the top screws seem to go into a hard fixing piont (possibly wood behind the grp) but the bottom screws only seem to fix into the grp?
Why would you need to fix grab handles ? Won't they jusy get in the way of the transit or winter covers? You could be piercing the grp and opening it up to damp problems later on. Also there are strengthening bars fitted onto the newer FC's to fit gas struts so it follows that if there are no strengtheners then it would not need handles.

Is this correct or has something slipped
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Sounds like whatever was behind the handle has dropped when the screws were removed.Happened on my In laws' caravan,it was just a bit of ply. If it is not there you risk breaking the handle and damaging the skin.Hope it's not to hard to get to!

Hi
Presume you mean the handles you use to pull it around into place on site. I can't hep with fix as I need to fix one of mine too, we've just not been using that handle, which can be a bit of a challenge, so if anyone has any ideas it would help. My handle that's come loose is on my countryman and is also the bottom screw it seems to have snapped off across the screw so a bit of screw is left in hole. No worries about hydraulics though as mines a 1997 . Has anyone else ever had one repaired. If so where and how much did it cost? As I'm not sure how we'd get the screw out to repair it.
Sorry, mis-read the first post, can you see anything from inside the lockers? Maybe you could drill and replace screw with a nut and bolt if you silicon the hole thoroughly.
There is a solid block of wood behind the ABS moulding which should be long enough to accomodate both fixing screws. Try poking a thin piece of wire through the lower fixing hole to see if the wood block can be located.
I would suggest using a 2" screw to refix the grab handle but try putting it in on an upward slant. If this does not solve the problem I'm afraid the whole rear moulding will have to be removed to extend the wooden block.
