Hello, we have just brought a Pennine fiesta camper  1994 model and are very new to this, so we need your help please. It has a whale pump that pumps water up when you stand on a grey switch! Nothing happens. So, is this 12v or 240v, we are currently charging up the battery, so, it might be this. However, can we convert this to 240v? How does this grey swich work, it does not seem to move inwards!!

Thanks for your help,

A

12 volt, its just a micro switch, not much movement but you may hear it click. It works off  240 via the unit's transformer when you use the ehu.

What age is it? Pre 1993 they had no EHU fitted just used a 12v battery, usually in the cloths locker same side as sink or you may find 2 wires under the sink 1red 1black if you can,t find anything try looking under the camper by the the footswitch. EHUs are not too diffucult to fit I have fitted loads over the years.

Your Whale pump is 12 Volts not 240 volts.Make sure the pump is free as when they are left over the winter they seem to seize up.On each side of the pump there are 2 contact strips,if you put 12volts across these, the pump should spin. If it dose put a volt metre over the 2 contacts in the socket and get someone to press the switch. If nothing it may be the switch or the wiring. when you plug the pump into the socket make sure the contacts are clean. There is a 12 volt transformer if you have EHU fitted so there should be power to the switch. If not a charged battery should be fitted.
