hi i have today been looking at places to camp for free i think known as wild camping, i found a couple of schluded places in a woods, and on a public park, both would involve in setting up in woods where we could not be seen does anyone know what rights i would have to this and if the police would move us on as family, i know the area and know it to be safe so this is not a concern, any help would be great, thanks
not sure, try it and see...I don't think anything major would happen , the very worst would be to pack up a leave.....I know wild camping is allowed in Scotland just not sure about public parks....
This post reminds me of the brochures you get on camping outfits - you know the ones - theres a photo of a tent on a gorgeous sunny day pitched right beside a lake with not another person in sight! These brochures definitely sell the items. However the reality is more often than not a damp field with more outfits on it than your average housing estate! I believe I did hear a discussion on the radio about wild camping and how it may become possible in England - but I wasn't listening closely enough to provide further information.
I used to work for a council parks department and camping was a definite NO NO
I would suggest you phone the relevant council they would most likely need you to prove HEALTH AND SAFETY regs were not being broken and possibly you would have to wear HIVIZ clothing

i found this, do you think i could use to carry on my stay for a night if the police did try to move me on, thought i might print it off and take it with me what do you think
No. Wild camping is allowed in Scotland, but not England. You might get away in remote areas not used for farming or field sports or target practice by the MOD. Not on park land.
