Hi snowprincess. Welcome. I have a 1990 Pennine Pullman and my canvas is faded. It does,nt bother me. I think of it as a sign of a good quality camper that has lasted so well. A little like denim jeans when they have faded. I would not mess about with dye TBH. Enjoy your unit

hi glynnis,

ty for that i have never looked at it like that. we did own a conway trailer tent couple of years ago and we did enjoy it, but i wanted to go better and bought a caravan..big mistake we were ripped off big style as we didnt know what we were looking at and had one trip away as we found it was riddled with damp :-( and as we have a son with chronic lung this was no good so away it went to scrap lol..so we have seen this for a price of 475 and are realy looking forward to getting it x

You need to join the Conway Owners Club www.conwayowners.org.uk. There you will get tons of advice and help with your new unit. The dyeing problem has been discussed many times and basically it's a non-starter. Just invest in about 6 litres of Fabsil and do the whole unit and awning. A new canvas from TVS in Bolton would cost a pretty penny and to be honest, not really worth it.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

If the canvas is still waterproof, I wouldn't touch it. If it has any mildew, don't panic, you just need to wipe over with a weak Milton solution to kill of any spores especially as your son has lung problems. This might take away the naturally waterproof properties of the canvas so you will need to keep an eye on it next time it rains.

Have a can of Fabsil ready just in case you need it but but hopefully you shouldn't.

Don't worry about the fading - retro is in. Everyone will think you are seasoned fc ers - until they see you trying to put the awing up

We have just "upgraded" from an almost new, barely used very tasteful and posh Pennine Fiesta to an old Pullman with faded green and grey canvas and the most glorious cushions and curtains you have ever seen, but we love it - it's definitely more "us" and I can live in it without worrying about it all the time.

Bet you can't wait - post later and let us know how you got on.

Well I hope you didn't laugh at him

Cruiser is dead easy to set up - just slide the beds out (carefully- don't trap the canvas)  click the uprights into place and then set the inside up. That's it. Put the kettle on.

You will find if you stay on this forum for more than ...ooh about a week, that you will find yourself parting with lots of money. You may not have paid much for your camper but there is now loads of 'stuff' that you will just have to have. Try, if you can, not to look in the 'camping under canvas' or 'equipment' threads, those girls over there keep finding 'stuff' and then we all have to go and buy it.

ours is really faded but as the inside hasn't we look at the inside and dont give a fig about those that are looking at the outside and judging.
so long as its dry and comfy who cares.

I have a 25 year old Conway trailer tent...it started life with a burgundy roof, now it's dusky pink. We do regard it as a badge of honour, yup, we've spent over a year of our lives in that trailer tent, we're seriously ancient campers as anyone can see from the roof. My old TT has literally decades of character written all over her.

(And she's still waterproof btw, you don't need to proof cotton canvas until it actually starts leaking.)

It isn't faded, it's the retro pastel shades.
