tigermouse, what have you been up to. This tent looks similar to my Khyam ontario, which is much too big for me to put up on my own, though I am biased cos I love my Chatsworth. You have a great set up with your van and awning, and what has happened to the van and your lessons? I have decided that next year Im going to get all colour co-ordinated, very anal I know but, I think Im into glamping, Wendy.

There were two units which caught my eye on our recent trip, one being the camplet, the other was a Kampa tent. I was very impressed with the Kampa (it was the Croyde, a bit larger than the Minnis, ) but from what could tell, the whole range look well thought out and well made. If we hadn't bought the camplet, I was seriously tempted to have a good look at the Kampa range.
I know I've got a great set-up with my van and awning, but in all honesty I wouldn't put the awning up for just one night as it takes quite a while to do. That's why I got the cheap 3-man dome thing - I've used it three times so far and it's great, but it does have two faults. You pitch the inner first so it gets wet if it's raining, as it was on Anglesey a couple of weeks ago, also there's quite a big mesh ventilation panel above the door, and with no way of covering it over it can get quite draughty inside when it's windy. Plus there's no separate area for my loo. I really do like the look of this Kampa one and it's really not that big.
Oh, and as for my caravan and towing, I'm booked on a towing/manoeuvring course in September - watch this space! lol

Well, this morning I did it - went back to Camperlands and didn't look, I bought the tent I saw on Saturday, plus a footprint groundsheet for only £9.99. Rubys Girl, I blame you now for starting this thread and reminding me I hadn't been there for a while! lol
There is just one thing I'm a bit confused about though and I don't know if I should be slightly disappointed or not - all the descriptions of this tent on various websites, plus the manufacturers description in the tent reviews on here, say it has an HH of 4000, but on the tent bag it says only 3000. So which do I believe, and does it really matter?

Tigermouse what have you done! this tent looks big, can you put it up easily on your own? You will have lots more room for your loo and the doggies. So when and where are you going for its first outing?

Just started a new thread on Camping Under Canvas Wendy. It's not big at all, only just about 5ft high in the centre - must be the photo that makes it look big - and only has four flexible poles all the same length. If I can put up my big awning on the side of my van on my own - in windy conditions as well - then I'm sure I can manage this baby!
