You will probably notice that most people replying are leaning towards folding campers, but this is probably because they might as well sit at the computer whilst making sure their camper is still on the drive, and googling for cheap motor movers. The rest of us can get on with life knowing our tt's are safely tucked away in the garage! The part of a camper that gets the most use is the bed,and tt beds are usually bigger than fc's,they are so much easier to live with on the road and at home(where they spend most of the time) and are just generally cool! Of course,if you want to look like you went under a very low bridge with your caravan, that's fine, just dont dismiss tt's on the majority of voters opinions, after all, they got it wrong in the General Election. As for comfort,my tt has 2 king size beds, pumped water, three burners, remote control lighting in bed rooms, awning and outside,a sofa and way more storage room than most fc's.

Am I the only one who doesn't want electricity, ovens and toilets to clean when I go away?
I don't want to do that either, i will let my hubby do it!!
We have a TT and are looking at changing to either a FC or caravan due to the fact that at weekends when were away for 2 nights it would be so much easier to use just the triler part or the van without having to put the awning up.

Having returned from the final break of the season last Thursday my Fiesta is now saftely locked away in the garage ( which is a very small one) ..... all I have to do is take it out for a run around the block every month or so and sit inside and wait for the spring.............................

I agree with Rivadan's sentiments. All types of TT and FC have their pros and cons. If you want something that is weather proof then PVC is probably best but if you want to get closer to nature, sleeping under canvas will probably float your boat. Some people prefer cooking in the open and having just the basics while overs want water on tap and an oven to cookwith. It is fortunate that their is something to suit every ones taste.

Hi Ian, my FC is packed away in our garage too, with its king sized bed!
Seriously don't have a problem with tts, I even set out to buy one until my hubby saw a FC and wanted that! I also have fond memories of camping in a tt as a child.
But as it is a pathfinder we very much do use the inside unless the weather is nice enough to sit totally outside which would be the same with tts anyway.
there is enough storage inside and we don't actually need that much since most of what you normally carry for a tt is already a part of the camper. Seats/tablescookers/toilet/gas bottle/lights etc. Even the bed folds up fully made up.
Don't need to use the awning unless we are camping with other family and then of course it makes a nice place for us to shelter from the sun or more likely from the rain so putting up is so quick and easy now we know what we are doing.

Mmmm i had a recent discussion about this with a friend. She has a caravan and we have a tent and are now getting a TT. For us we love the whole outdoors part of camping, the cooking & sitting outside and being a family of 6 we need lots of space and storage and awning big enough for us all should the weather not be good, we never take a TV so for us a caravan does not tempt us...which in turn means a FC would not............having said that though 'if' we were able to store one in our garage at home a FC would be possibly considered but only on the basis of being quicker to set up the main unit for our weekends and o/n stays. We are looking at new TT's which do seem to be quicker to set up than the older types and the one we're after is all in one, and should take no longer than our 8 man tent to set up.
It's trying to find that 'perfect' model that suits your individual needs...........we are struggling and I know something will have to give......roll on next month at the NEC so we can make our choices.

Aye its all personal preference. We bought a cheap conway cruiser 18months ago to see how we got on with camping again at age of 50+. Ease of erection and the infacilities provided by the conway suit us great. We can have the unit up in 15 mins and spend the weekend having fun, or we can spend a bit longer setting up the awning for a longer holiday and even have a sun awning if we want to use that instead.
Having decided we really enjoy it we are trying to trade up to a conway clubman hardtop with full cooker (oven included) hot and cold water, heater and shower( tho don't really see need for shower as most sites have good facilities) ... and have to sell the cruiser, but would hate to go to TT now with all that canvas to erect and kitchen to set up, but then that may just be me being a lazy old man lol
