Hello help needed again please for my 1985 jayco folding camper with hard top, we used it this week for the first time and when it rained the roof leaked pretty badly, it came through the strip that goes across the roof inside.  when we checked outside the roof has a line down the middle that the rain soaked through.

does anyone know how this can be repaired and made waterproof?

feel gutted because bought it off ebay a few months ago and seller said it was waterproof, what a shame had to come home early with two young kids because of the leak, now just feel like its useless!

thanks for any help

The rain probably came through the strip due to the mastic sealant being old and no longer forming a seal. The strip down the middle should screw off.  You then need to clean it off with white spirit followed by a clean with meths.  Next you will need to replace the mastic with a strip of mastic such as this http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.towsure.com/product/913-Mastic_Strip_Sealer_(4_Mtr_Length

you can get this from any caravan accessory shop.  Screw the metal strip back on and hopefully this will solve the problem.

Hope this helps.
