I have just packed our trailer tent away but the canvas is slightly damp. We are going away again in ten days time,so the question is will I get away with it being packed dampish knowing it will be put up again soon, or hang it in a barn to dry?

I would suggest hanging it in the barn.
10 days is too long for it to be packed away damp. You might get away with it but do you really want to chance starting mildew?

There's some similar discussions going on in the tent forums. It's generally recommended not to leave it packed up damp for more than 48 hours. I would imagine that this similarly applies to trailer tents.

Yes, 48 hours is safe, anything longer and the chances of mildew starting increase with time. Ten days is far too long to leave it packed up. Trailer tent canvas costs a LOT to replace, so don't take the risk. Dry it out.

We have just returned from a week near Castle Douglas and have had the same problem, the canvas is currently stretched out across our garage. We have had this issue with a tent in the past and only left the tent for 1 day and found that the mildew had set in. We now try our best not to have a damp/wet tent for more that 12 hours just in case.

how do you dry the canvas out? can you take it off the frame? we are thinking of buying one but worry about how to dry it out if need be.... we dont have room at home to put it up? advice would be gratefully accepted -x-... i might make a new message on this forum...do you think i would get any help?

They all come off the frame one way or another,some easy,some not. Always a big lump of canvas to haul.How about a Dandy? Not so critical to keep dry,though not cheap either.

If the worst happens and you have a wet camper when you pack and you have no room at home open it up at the side of the road.
