The roof canvas on my walker viva has stretched and now when it rains it puddles on both sides of the roof. The roof sections are basically and alloy oblong frame on which the canvas lays. I was thinking of putting in 2 new alloy poles coming from the ridge down to the eaves fixed to the original frame with C clips. What is the opinion on the canvas leaking where it touches the new poles? would i have to add aditional tape/sealer?

Any other suggestions on how to give it extra support? maybe webbing of some kind?

Perhaps a run of tenacious tape where the new poles touch the roof?  A slight bow in the new pole would add tension and help stop leaks by pushing up the canvas Or maybe attach guys each side.

A Walker Viva? Like this? I used to have one of these......my first trailer tent and a much loved one. The page on my blog I linked to was actually the write up I used when I Freecycled it last year and the pictures are from various auction sites. Heartbraking to see it go but our current Camargue is more suitable for us nowadays. Got any pictures of yours?

I don't think the canvas would be any more likely to leak when it touches the new poles than when it touches the old tbh. But most roof canvases would have a double reinforced section where it touches poles. So a strip of Tenacious Tape might be required. Only way is to suck it and see tbh.

Yes the same as the top picture one. I just paid £323 for it on ebay but i Just loved it. Its in such good condition even down to all the original rubbers! I will give it a quick re-coat of varnish soon and want to add a front box. Used it last weekend with 6 in it was a squeeze but worked and in the thunderstorms :) I will sort out some pics soon

Same as mine then. Got the sun canopy? The retro brown gingham upholstery? TBH I couldn't stand the brown gingham so recovered everything. The other thing I did was buy a 12" wide strip of foam bedding, cover it and put it down the gap between the mattress and the "tray" edge of the bed, to get a wider bed area.

I loved that Viva. It was our first family tent ....our previous tent was a 2-man Vango Force 10 so the Viva was a real step up size wise!
