hi good people of the camping world!
im john and i have done the right thing........i have sold my caravan today and im awaiting delivery on a conway contiki which as of yet im unsure of age.
is this the right place to come if i got any problems with it and if i need general info??
im just glad ive come back to getting a trailer tent. good riddens to caravans!
hi homebird, basically tt's are much easier to tow and look after and secondly, i only had my van for about 6 months and the cost was horrific! plus all the horror stories i was told about towing them AND also last week i was sitting behind one (because i do a lot of motorway driving) and it had a blow out.....and how the guy managed to wrestle his van and car to the hard shoulder (nearly ending in a ditch) il never know (his wife got out all crying and upset, the kids were crying and the poor guy who was driving got out as a nervous wreck!) and having all that in mind, and also knowing i got my kids in the car too i thought its time for it to go and head back to what i have known best for a few years.......trailer tents!
Thanks John. We've had our Conway Countryman for 2 years & have been looking at caravans for a few months now. Something is holding us back & I think maybe its because we are comfortable towing our FC & storage is easy. Camping has to be about relaxing & for us that has to be with what we've got.
thanks homebird.
if your thinking of chooing a caravan, i really really recommend you visit the other side of this forum (about caravans) and there you will see the major problems they suffer with. one main one is damp! they have a massive problem with that and once it starts to go, thats it! you have to strip walls down etc. quite literally take it apart and if your not good at that then you have had it.
at least with a trailer tent if anything goes on the body its simple to do AND if the canvas tears that place in bolton can repair it for you and they also quoted me only £500 for a brand new canvas nd awning for mine in case anything goes wrong!
you cant do that with a caravan!
best of luck homebird with what ever you decide.
