i may be wrong but the problem with this y connecter is it says 13pin to 12n-12s.this means your car must already have a power supply fitted to the tow bar as the single socket 12n has no 12v live to run the camper.

had another thought well two it is not that dear to put the second 12s socket on your car but don't know if a good idea to run camper from car battery on site as car batteries are not designed to have a constunt draw on them.

the other idea is get a leisure battery and makeup a lead to plug into your 12s on site also you could get a charger for the battery and keep it toped up while on ehu but to be honest if all the battery is running is the 12v stuff in camper it will last at least a week anyway so you could just stick it on charge at home.

Pullmans that old didn't have a zig unit and leisure battery as standard. If you fit a leisure battery it is easy to connect ( just butcher your grey lead ) and you could either charge it at home or use an ordinary charger plugged into your camping electric ehu lead.

I would attach my camping three plug socket to the kitchen unit and just feed the lead out under the canvas and velcro round it to stop draughts.

ooh loads of ideas now!

I've just spoken to the guy that serviced my FC and he's coming back today to fit a spare battery that I have under the kitchen unit which he'll connect the 12v socket and water pump to via a rocker switch, meaning the only thing that we won't have connected up is the fridge (runs on gas) and 12v light (but we have lots of camping lamps!) but will allow us to run without an EHU or connecting the S connector to the car..

Thanks for the inspiration

Wongers, our unit certainly has no provision for an EHU, however we have a lead that we used to take camping which has the hook up socket at one end and a bank of 4 x 3pin plug sockets at the other which we'll just pop under the canvas into the main living area.  et voila electricity, not quite as neat as having it built in but does the same job.

I didn't really get into folding campers till 2000 and when we looked at second hand ones it seems that SE means they had extras like battery boxes and otherwise not. Our 2003 pathfinder thinks it is a caravan as far as the electric goes. A PSU , three 240 volt power points, 12 volt lights, water pump, loo which all work on mains hook up with no battery and a charger which charges the leisure battery and the fridge works on gas 12V (towing) and 240 V.

Our camping electric three way thingy would be a cheap alternative to wiring properly for 240 as it just limits you to 10 amps not 16 and plenty of sites we use are only 10 amp anyway. Personally I wouldn't be spending a fortune on paying to fit a zig unit to an older unit if I already owned a camping one.
