New member here.

I have a '98 Penine Fiesta - its getting a bit worn in places so I'm going to make some repairs before the winter sets in.

 

One problem is that the adhesive-backed velcro which are used to stick the canvas to the trailer are coming away. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a source of velcro for making repair ?

Many stationers sell velcro on a roll. I doubt the adhesive on it would be up to the job, but you could always use a stronger adhesive to stick it on with. You can staple it on but I find the staples tend to pull through.

Ours goes onto metal but people have used normal velcro and a strong adhesive.

We got new velcro at a local Tent & Awning clinic which is on the internet.

Thanks guys. I have found normal velcro on a roll - I just need some very strong adhesive now.

Old thread but worth a shot. Did you find any strong ahesive?

Some of the velcro on our Pullman is coming away from the metal. I figured it'd be easier to glue it back on as the ends are riveted to the metal. Any thoughts?

We recently bought some heavy duty stick on velcro from Ebay. We found it worked really well on our awning. it still worked when wet and windy. Hope this is of some help.

Cheers. The velcro on our camper is riveted on to it on each end, not sure how I'd get it off to replace it.

I bought our velcro from the local Sailmaker and they recommended double sided carpet tape.

They call their industrial velcro "hook & loop".

In our case we used 50mm wide hook & loop to attach our awning to our caravan with the hook side stitched to the tunnel part and the loop side stuck to the caravan with the double sided tape.

The tape was stuck on 4 years ago and is still in place as far as I know. We sold the van last year and have not heard anything from the new owners to the controry.

When I bought my second hand Fiesta,the Velcro was hanging off the ends of the aluminium rails.I replaced it by unscrewing the rail ,cleaning all the adhesive off. and sticking the new Velcro on. Then I folded the ends over,drilled a hole at the end and put a nut and bolt on the end and then filed down the heads down to a dome profile with a washer under both the nut and the bolt. This was 3 years ago ,and is still as new.
