We've decided to invest in a folding camper and have around £1000-£1500 to spend. Would love a conway cardinal/clubman hard top but finding a decent one in this price range is proving hard. Seen around Pennine folding campers and wondering is there a great difference between pennine and conway on the older models? any infor would be great an d i believe they are the same company now
We have a 1997 Conway Countryman which is similar to the Peenine Fiesta. The differences I've noticed are that the awning of the Fiesta has zip out panels, ventilated bedroom pods, curtains in front of the bedrooms & proper seat backs. Its also wider. The Countryman lacks these things but I prefer the colour scheme of ours as the Fiesta for the same year is a sort of bright Turquoise. If it was green I'd certainly go for one,
hi have a 1995 conway cruiser now thats nice just aint had the chance 2 use it yet that has big slide out beds seating area converts into another bed lots of under seating storage draws a wardrobe mines dark green & beige/cream
Guess its all down to personal preference and finding a decent one in our price range. Just wasn't sure if there was a huge difference in quality of the two makes.
I think the main difference was the fold-over or slide-out bed boards, Pennine had the up and over type and Conwy had the slide out type, personal preferance really.
the advantage of the conway slideing beds (well on the cruiser not sure about others)is the canvas stays on so if you open in the rain the insides stay dry.also no heavy lifting.
Most Fc's have a 'wet pack' so wether you have the pull out or the fold over bed boards, you dont get wet. We have set up our fold over Pathfinder in the rain and managed to keep everything dry inside. The canvas stays on most FC's [ its only folded onto the poles] so, easy to pull the beds over and pull the main cabin down in almost one movement.
Sorry if I'm missing the obvious, but we're looking into buying a FC and I'm not sure what a 'wet pack' is and how you'd use it.
Thanks for any answers.

On the Pathfinder, it's a set of plastic sheets that are permanently attached to the camper seat bases and bed bases.
When you pack up, you wrap/cover everything soft with these sheets and then fold over the canvas, so even if it's raining (if not when you pack but the next time you pitch), none of the upholstery or bedding gets wet.
(If you've packed wet, you still have to open everything up when you get home and allow to dry properly or else you'll get mildew.)
