Interesting thread that concludes joining both is best!
New to this lark with a FC next season I would want sites with good facilities (i.e. hot clean showers) and playground/areas for kids.
Cotswolds View has been recommended as a first outing, and that's an independant is it not?
I am thinking that CC would be ones with better facilities....I don't know?
C&CC is £37, CC is £38...so yes, not much in it!

I've been trying to make up my mind about joining one or other of these clubs for next year (never bothered before but thought it might be worth a try). In order to help me decide, I thought I would have a look to see where the various club and CLs/ CCs are.
On the camping and caravanning club website I can find out full info about Club sites and Certificated sites, including locations, facilities and prices
However, on the Caravan Club website, I can't find out anything about the CLs without being a member and logging in.
But.... before I become a member, I want to know where the CLs are and what facilities they have: (we tried a basic site this year and OH hated not having showers and washing up facilities). So I don't want to join the CC only to find that the CLs have minimal/ no facilities. But unless I am a member I can't find out that info!
So it looks like the camping and caravanning club for me then!

I tried joining the Caravan Club this afternoon because they include trailer tents in their unit types. However when I get to unit type and put in my details I can get no further. It appears that in the Caravan Club a TT is either Folding Caravan or a Folding Camper. Having a Raclet Jasmin I'm obviously a tenter not a caravanner.
Ring up and join that way, when you can speak to someone they are much more flexible.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

The minimum requirement for a CL is water, chmeical waste diposal and household waste disposal facilities. Many many of these and the similar CCC CS's have just this, but they are very cheap to use. An increasing number have Electric hook up and a small minority have toilets and showers.
CC main sites are in the main full facility sites with EHU at all all pitches , clean pleasant toilet blocks with as much hot water as you care to use, they also have washing up areas and generally some sort of childrens playground. There are however a few non facility sites but again all the pitches on these sites have EHU. CCC main sites are similar to CC but their is a wider variation in the standard of provision ( their best sites are superb but a number need their toilet blocks upgrading ) there is also a situation where you will not find EHU for every pitch, indeed on many sites the majority of pitches have no facilities.

Definitely not stupid, if you don't ask nobody tells you and we all assume that everybody understands. It is good to be reminded every now and again that this is not so.
EHU Electric Hookup, bollards on the site where a specific extension cable can be plugged in to give mains electric in the caravan.
CL is a CC (Caravan Club ) Certificated Location, these are privately owned sites that are licenced only for members to use and are allowed a maximum of 5 caravans on at any one time. They vary in the standards of the sites from the just plain scuffy to absolutely superb and vary in price from about £4 a night up to about £12 a night though a very few are even more expensive. Sometimes you will find them in the most wonderful places. There are about 2500 CL sites.
CS is the CCC ( camping and Caravanning Club ) equivalent of the CL and has exactly the same conditions and variety. There are just over 1000 CS sites.
