Just back from a great 2 weeks in our new Camplet Savanne. However we had some grand gales and rain and were disappointed that the Savanne leaked at the seams all along the wall with second bedroom. So much so that it soaked the bed and water was dripping off the curtain in the main area. Anyone had a similar experience and what seam sealant would you advise? We were very careful and 'weathered'the canvas as suggested in the instructions before we went on holiday.

I know at the end of the day its canvas, not a submarine, but I'm very suprised to hear that about a new Camplet. Was something touching the canvas? I suppose water might wick through the canvas if the wind was blowing it in and making it touch something it shouldn't.
We had awful weather last October, the rain was torrential all weekend, and the wind damaged our (very experienced) friends tent. We ended up changing the Camplet for a Jametic with a ZIG because there was so much surface water the tent was completely flooded, but not a drop came through the canvas. I remember thinking how ironic it was, as I tried to dam the stream!
I had some leaks in my new Camplet Savanne, but I hadn't weathered the canvas properly so assumed that was why. I gave the canvas a light spray on the areas that had leaked with Fabsil spray, and that solved the problem. The only other leaky area was along the left hand side window seam - where water leaked through and got the curtain wet in heavy rain. I used a Gelert seam sealant on the seam above the window which seems to have done the trick.

Thanks for your, end everyone else's comments.
That sounds exactly what has happened to us. Wet curtain on the left side and leaking through the seam into the bedroom. Think I'll give the seam sealant a try. However, I would have to agree that, having paid a good deal of money for the trailer tent, I would not expect it to leak the way it has.Think we will give Camperlands a ring and see what they say.

They should at least send a bottle or 2 of seam sealant, otherwise threaten them with returning the goods as faulty! Actually, they are a pretty decent firm,so give them a ring.

We had 8 hrs of constant lashing rain last week when we were in our FC, not a drip and that is 10 yr old canvas. I wouldn't have thought it should leak being bran new, but then I'm no expert. Have to say I'd be more than a little annoyed though if it were me. Selina
We had pretty much the same experience with our Concorde the first twice we took it out - particularly the bit where the curtains were wet and the water dripping off. However in our case we didn't weather our canvas properly ( newbies to camping!!) and since then it has got wet another few times and there have been no further problems at all. Hope it will be the same for you.
Goodness! I would have been well narked to say the least! Our Concorde never leaked, and we had some awful weather in Belgium - water puddled on the roof (!) but didn't come through at all.
The only time we had a problem with water was when we didn't have the sun canopy up and the water was running down the front and dripped onto the groundsheet rather than the grass, which then channeled it straight through the tent! (I actually thought of you alisonme at this point!!)
Getting in touch with Camperlands is a good idea. I contacted them about something else with mine (I was missing a couple of guyropes and had broken one of the press studs) and they sent replacements out straight away with no quibbles.
