If its a brand new tent then surely this shouldn't happen???

I know at the end of the day its canvas, not a submarine, but I'm very suprised to hear that about a new Camplet.  Was something touching the canvas? I suppose water might wick through the canvas if the wind was blowing it in and making it touch something it shouldn't. 

We had awful weather last October, the rain was torrential all weekend, and the wind damaged our (very experienced) friends tent.  We ended up changing the Camplet for a Jametic with a ZIG because there was so much surface water the tent was completely flooded, but not a drop came through the canvas.  I remember thinking how ironic it was, as I tried to dam the stream!

We had pretty much the same experience with our Concorde the first twice we took it out - particularly the bit where the curtains were wet and the water dripping off.  However in our case we didn't weather our canvas properly ( newbies to camping!!) and since then it has got wet another few times and there have been no further problems at all.  Hope it will be the same for you.
