I myself have NO intention putting my van "to sleep" over the winter months, The place where mine is stored when we are not away is full of vans stored for the winter???? don't they know there are CLs with electric or is it that they just cannot be bothered?. I my opinion winter is the best time, Who else go's out or can reccomend a site?.
Mine is; The Bridge Inn at Tatham in the Vale of Bowland.

Are you on the correct forum?

BTW, the reason we put out FC to sleep over the winter is the kids have to go to school and we don't have time at the weekends to go anywhere.

Unfortunately, you can only post on here if you take a chainsaw to your van and put a tarp over the hole! The Forest Holiday sites are open over winter,Ardgarten on loch long is my favourite.

The only problem with a trailer or tent is drying the thing when it gets wet, it's hard enough in summer, but winter is even harder.

Hi Ian, Our house is exactly 12.3 miles as the crow flies or 17.3 miles by road south from Ardgarten CP.

Yes it is a beautiful part of the country and yet we leave it to tour elsewhere. I wonder why.

We use our folding camper right through the winter.  It has a heater so stays lovely and warm and even went away new years eve.  Winter is a great time to go, lovely crisp walks and cosy pubs, love it.

We go away a lot, including the winter, but are retired so have the time. Even when we were working we went away at Christmas, but I worked in London so had a long day which meant no weekend trips except at Bank Holidays.

I love going in my caravan over the winter It's not for everyone though. The kids love having the smell of beef stew coming from the slow cooker, jumpers, coats, and the best part wellies and jumping in the puddles All my family who are non campers, think that we are insane, I don't think they have even lived yet.
